This course is part of the certification : Global Approach to Pain Management
The Global Approach to Pain Management Certification offers an innovative, evidence-based, holistic approach to pain management. This approach integrates 10 key elements including neuroscience and education about pain; stress response; breathing, meditation, imagery, yoga and mindfulness therapy.
The management of the person in pain is guided by a bio-psycho-social model. This person-centered approach to pain management takes into consideration the factors that predict rehabilitation outcomes, integrates notions of compassion, neuroplasticity and offers exercises adapted to the condition through yoga-inspired movements and manual techniques.
In this Level 2, Emmanuelle joins Stéphanie Thibault-Gagnon PhD, to offer the therapist a clinical integration of the Global Approach to Pain Management (GAPM).
The student will be guided through the various steps of the GAPM through the assessment, analysis and management of the person in pain. They will see a clear approach to evaluation, both subjective and objective. They will be able to perfect their clinical reasoning thanks to the analysis tools. These tools include, among others, a decision algorithm, a checklist and an action plan for the person in pain. They will then see the GAPM management guided by the “conscious therapy”, clinical tools and integrating 4 therapeutic strategies.
The participant will learn about the myofascial system and new treatment examples. The student will also be able to enhance their understanding of the clinical application of GAPM through a comprehensive case history of a person with generalized pain. Concrete management techniques will be demonstrated so that the participant completes this level with clinical tools for both reasoning and management of the person in pain.
Very interesting and relevant. The tools taught are very useful and clinically applicable.
interesting
Comprehensive course with concrete tools that can be easily integrated into our clinical practice.
Very good course, a lot of content but very interesting, well divided and well explained.
I would have liked movement suggestions for persistent shoulder pain. Thank you very much.
