This course is intended for dietitian-nutritionists who wish to adjust their practice for clients who have undergone bariatric surgery.
Participants will be able to differentiate between the main types of bariatric surgery, the advantages and disadvantages of each, as well as possible complications.
In the second module of this course, participants will learn the key points of a preoperative nutritional assessment as well as the risks of nutritional deficiencies. Participants will also learn about dietary progression and nutritional recommendations in the immediate post-operative period.
Finally, in the last module, participants will be able to identify the risks of nutritional deficiencies and deficiencies post-operatively and make appropriate recommendations based on the side effects present.
