Myriam Filion’s mission is to contribute to the quality of life and well-being of people with cancer through physical activity. Myriam Filion has 15 years of experience in a field that she herself has named kinesio-oncology. After completing a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology at the Université de Sherbrooke, she developed strong skills in physical activity intervention with cancer patients. Myriam holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Epidemiology from the Faculty of Medicine of Université Laval, which allowed her to develop a solid clinical and scientific experience. At the same time, she implemented the kinesiology service with the multidisciplinary team of the Deschênes-Fabia Breast Disease Centre at the St-Sacrement Hospital of the CHU de Québec.
In 2014, she founded Kinergie, her own kinesiology-oncology clinic which she ran for 2 years. After acquiring expertise in clinical, entrepreneurial, hospital and community settings, Myriam implemented the “Ma Santé Active” program of the Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation, which facilitates physical activity for women with breast cancer in Eastern Canada. In September 2020, Myriam was admitted to the Ph.D. program with the prestigious Dr. Kerry Courneya Canada Research Chair in Physical Activity and Cancer at the University of Alberta in Edmonton. She continues to be involved in the field of Kinesio-Oncology at many levels as a researcher, coach and instructor.
