Tasks and role of an occupational therapist in the network :
Working in occupational therapy in the network means, first and foremost, putting the client at the center of all interventions. It’s all about choosing the best intervention for the user’s well-being, whether it’s one-to-one, group, home, daycare or residential. We take a holistic view of the person and his or her functioning, and consider all the factors that can contribute positively or negatively to the accomplishment of different activities. We build on the individual’s strengths and resources to support recovery.
More concretely, the occupational therapist assesses functional abilities, determines and implements a treatment and intervention plan, develops, restores or maintains aptitudes, compensates for incapacities, reduces handicap situations and adapts the environment with the aim of promoting optimal autonomy for the human being in interaction with his or her environment. He or she works closely with other caregivers, both internal and external (hospitals, medical clinics, community resources, etc.). He or she works in institutional settings (hospitals, CLSCs, CHSLDs, etc.) as well as in the client’s living environment (home, seniors’ residence, day center, rehabilitation center, etc.)
Nature of requirements:
We have several long-term, full- or part-time replacement contracts to fill in our various departments:
Qualifications :
An open-minded individual with excellent adaptability skills would be an asset. As teamwork is at the heart of our work, a potential candidate must have a facility for working with other professionals, and be keen to help others understand the specific nature of occupational therapy, as well as being able to explain and report on his or her assessments.
We are often called upon to intervene in situations where the central issue is motivation. An occupational therapist with an interest in and, above all, skills in the various assessments and interventions relating to motivation and putting things into action would be an asset to a team.
Access to Equal Employment Opportunity:
Our establishment applies an equal access to employment program for people from targeted groups, i.e. women, Aboriginals, visible and ethnic minorities and disabled people. We invite these people to apply.
