Summary
This course will provide participants with an overview of the most recent and relevant scientific evidence on the role of physical activity (PA) in the management of cancer-related side effects. The course will include the basics of managing an oncology clientele according to the care trajectory and the different phases of cancer.
A review of relevant side effects in relation to the role of exercise on each will be considered. From this context, the identification of contraindications, precautions and indications for physical activity intervention with this type of client will be learned. This course will provide key tools to develop safe and nuanced reflexes to manage physical activity interventions for a person diagnosed with cancer.
Objectives
- Identify and clarify the role of physical activity in the management of cancer-related side effects.
- Understand the management of an oncology clientele according to the care trajectory and the different phases of cancer.
- Learn to identify contraindications to physical activity and adjust one’s practice according to a set of factors to personalize the physical activity intervention.
- Reflect on and question the case studies presented.
