Claude Dagenais is a pharmacist with a unique career path combining biopharma research, clinical pharmacy practice and university education.
Claude obtained his Bachelor of Pharmacy from Université de Montréal. He directly went on to get a Ph.D. in Drug Delivery and Disposition from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, specializing in pharmacokinetics. After a post-doctorate in Molecular Medicine at Université du Québec à Montréal, he joined the U.S. headquarters of AstraZeneca, and then Amgen, to support neuroscience drug discovery projects for a decade. Claude then came back to Montréal to practice hospital pharmacy for several years, initially specializing in psychiatry, and then contributing to hemodialysis and geriatric patient care.
More recently, Claude worked as a pharmacokineticist for the former Canadian biotech Forbius. He is currently contributing to the implementation of a modified competence-based pharmacy practice program for immigrants with a foreign pharmacy degree. Claude is a long-standing educator for future pharmacy students at Université de Montréal, passionate about teaching and translating the importance of basic sciences into advanced clinical pharmacy practice.
