Dr Danilo de Oliveira Silva is an Associate Professor and National Health and Medicine Research Council (NHMRC) Emerging Leadership Fellow at the La Trobe Sport & Exercise Medicine Research Centre.
Dr Danilo De Oliveira Silva holds a bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy (2012) from Western Parana State University, Brazil, and both a Master’s degree (2015) and PhD (2019) in Physiotherapy from Sao Paulo State University, Brazil. His PhD thesis was awarded the Best Allied Health PhD Thesis in Brazil (2020); the most prestigious award from the Ministry of Education in Brazil. Danilo’s research focuses on the biomechanics, psychological and pain characteristics of people with knee conditions across the lifespan. He has more than 130 peer-reviewed publications, is the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Sport Rehabilitation, and has held leadership positions in many academic journals, national and international committees.
Danilo is also passionate about translating research evidence into practice and sharing research findings with the general community. Currently, he is the Development Director of the TREK initiative (Translating Research Evidence Knowledge) and has co-created a digital hub with 7 online toolkits to help health professionals and patients with chronic pain.
