Summary

This oncology course allows healthcare professionals to deepen their understanding of high-risk populations, particularly patients undergoing treatment who present with significant comorbidities such as cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, or metabolic conditions. You will learn to recognize the effects of past treatments and the resulting residual dysfunctions, such as the development of type 2 diabetes. The course also covers higher-risk types of cancer—central nervous system tumors, sarcomas, multiple myeloma, and cancers diagnosed at an advanced stage—as well as treatment protocols to consider, including the impact of radiotherapy on bone health.

Practical screening and triage tools will be presented to help you identify red and yellow flags, apply appropriate functional tests, and categorize your patients based on the required level of supervision. You will learn how to prescribe exercise safely and effectively using the FITT principle, while considering goals such as prehabilitation, wellness, muscular strengthening, and cardiovascular training. Finally, the course will prepare you to recognize and manage oncological emergencies through the discussion of real-life clinical cases.
