Summary

This webinar is presented by Myriam Filion, kinesiologist, doctoral student, and specialist in oncology. The objective of this presentation is to facilitate the integration of an exercise and physical activity program for people with cancer into your practice. This webinar will provide you with new perspectives and concrete tools to optimally integrate a client diagnosed with cancer into your regular coaching practice. It will also allow you to reflect on new ways to intervene with a person with cancer, regardless of the stage of the disease and the physical condition.

Specifically, in this webinar, Myriam provides tools for intervention in individual and group coaching practice. Based on the disease continuum, Myriam presents all the intervention options based on side effects, treatments and stage of the disease. She also presents what her multiple experiences in private practice, hospitals, and fitness centers have taught her about patient management and the best behaviours to adopt in order to motivate this clientele to move.

At the end of this presentation, a question period will be offered to allow participants to ask their questions or present clinical cases to Myriam Filion.

Objectives

  1. Understand the behavior of a person diagnosed with cancer in order to encourage them to maintain or begin a physical activity or training program.
  2. Discover new interventions to adopt with people with cancer in order to easily integrate it into a regular practice as a physical activity professional.
  3. Improve your practice as a physical activity professional by reflecting on ways to adapt your interventions to an oncology clientele through the use of case studies.
  4. Adapt your training and physical activity tools and interventions to manage a person with a cancer diagnosis.
  5. Reflect on and question the case studies presented.

I loved the new data on oncology. Although I left school just 4 years ago, we were still hearing that exercise was contraindicated during treatment, so it’s really useful for our practice to know that it’s indicated during treatment and also the up-to-date statistics will be very interesting to share with my current patients with cancer or in remission. Thank you so much! It makes me really want to do Myriam’s next course!
