Summary
Understanding why a musculoskeletal injury occurred involves identifying the factors which have predisposed the individual to injury and how they have interacted with their load exposure to create the injury. By having a clear process to work through this complex area allows a practitioner to better understand when a client might be at risk and those factors which could be impacted upon with an intervention programme to reduce risk.
Objectives
- Identify what constitutes a non-modifiable or modifiable predisposing factor
- How predisposition impacts on load and vulnerability
- Develop an understanding of how risk predisposition and load exposure interact
- Understand how manipulation of predisposition can impact on risk
