Crepitus (joint noise such as cracking, grinding, or clicking) is a common clinical finding across a range of musculoskeletal conditions, yet its clinical meaning remains unclear and often misunderstood. This webinar will provide an evidence-based overview of crepitus in the knee and hip, focusing on its prevalence, associations with structural pathology, relationship with pain and function, and its impact on patient beliefs and behaviour. Participants will gain practical guidance on interpreting crepitus in clinical practice, integrating it into clinical reasoning, and effectively communicating with patients concerned about joint noise.
Replay will be available for members only or for purchased ($) by non-members. Stay informed!
Objectives
- Understand the prevalence and presentation of crepitus across knee and hip conditions.
- Interpret the relationship between crepitus, structural pathology, pain, and physical function.
- Recognise the influence of crepitus on patient beliefs, emotions, and behaviour.
- Integrate crepitus into clinical reasoning without over- or underestimating its importance.
