Summary

Weight training is now part of the training program for many endurance sportsmen and athletes, but do the weight training programs they usually take part in really improve their performance? While there is a consensus in the scientific literature on the type of strength training that can improve performance in endurance sports, we are far from seeing the same consensus on the ground.

In this course, we will first review the scientific literature to identify the type of muscle training that can improve performance and the mechanisms responsible for performance gains. We will then discuss more practical aspects, such as the planning of muscular quality training in a year of training and the appropriate training methods for the endurance athlete, depending on his or her age and level of development.

Objectives

  1. Understanding the role of weight training in endurance sports.
  2. Distinguishing the effect of body type on endurance performance.
  3. Learn how to plan the year’s strength training for an endurance athlete.
  4. Reflect on appropriate training methods to be used for athletes according to their sport.
  5. In short, to improve the strength training of athletes and endurance athletes!

Interesting content, I found the format a bit long, I would have preferred a bit of editing during the questions by the participants (for example a text-wall with the question and we cut straight to the answer).

It’s a shame because you don’t hear people’s comments, so it’s hard to follow what they’re saying.

Good course. Very simple and concrete. It might have been interesting to go into greater depth on the effect of strength training on performance, such as core, proprioception and joint stabilization, for example.

Very interesting course, but it would be really useful to hear or understand the questions asked by the participants in person to better understand the instructor’s answers. Some questions were subtitled, but others were not. Especially during the question period. Thanks a lot!
